Proposals To Enjoy A Whole Weekend In Madrid

Madrid is a magical city where its monumental streets join the frenetic activity of leisure and entertainment that surrounds the city. You can choose from enjoying the latest Broadway hit in the Gran Via to ending the week with a great open air party in

Brunch -In the Park in Madrid. Because the capital of Spain does not rest on Sundays, do you? Let’s have a look at how to enjoy the whole weekend in Madrid.

Friday of “Austrias” and leisure in Malasaña

Once we arrive to Madrid, visiting the Austrias neighbourhood is a great plan in order to immerse ourselves in the classic and authentic atmosphere that characterize this city.

This area is located right in the heart of the city. We can start by wandering around the Gran Vía, from Cibeles to Plaza de España. Then we can go into the narrow streets of “el barrio de lasletras”, a historical neighbourhood where most of the best Spanish writers used to live. We will end up in Plaza Mayor, where we must definitely stop at San Miguel market to enjoy the wide range of tapas that offer its many stalls. Now, you will definitely feel you are in Madrid.

After visiting the Puerta de Alcalá, another must of the Spanish capital, look for some classic and nice taverns in the neighborhood of Tribunal or Malasaña; these are just the perfect spots to start or finish the night and feel Madrid’s energetic and festive rhythm.

A bohemian and cultural Saturday

After a long walking day and a great dancing night, you will definitely want to find a nice park to rest in.

Retiro park is a must that you should visit at some point of your weekend in Madrid. The same happens with the Sabatini Gardens or the Temple of Debod, which has a privileged location on a hill that offers great views over the Almudena Cathedral and the southwestern neighborhoods of Madrid. If we want to get away from the city, Casa de Campo is an excellent option to experience the rural side of Madrid.

Saturday can be a great day for visiting some interesting museums in the Spanish capital. If you are only going to visit one museum, it should definitely be the Prado Museum. But once there, you can also walk to the Thyssen-Bornemiszaor the Reina Sofia museums. In this last one you will be able to appreciate the worldwide famous masterpiece of Picasso: Gernika.

To continue with this cultural evening go to Gran Vía and choose one musical play among all the theaters you will find in this big avenue. After having dinner go home and have some rest to be ready for the next day, Sundays in Madrid can get pretty intense.

And finally it’s Sunday!

You’ve already walked around the city, visited museums, eaten tapas and enjoyed a musical play in Gran Vía. But guess what? It’s still Sunday and that’s probably one of the best days in Madrid. Actually, if you go to Enrique Tierno Galvan Park you will be part of one of the coolest open air music events in Spain; Brunch –In The Park.

Here you will find 9 hours of the best electronic music and the best festive atmosphere to close a memorable weekend in the Spanish capital. Moreover, remember you will find a wide range of gastronomic offer as well as different activities and workshops for children.

Visiting Madrid is definitely a great choice, what are you waiting for?
