Meeting Venues Are Available For Everyone Not Just Businesses

Family Gatherings and Reunions

Every now and then it’s good to get the whole family together in order to catch up and see how everyone is doing. You might have a large family, so you are most definitely going to need the space! Even if you don’t have a big family, going somewhere different can be a good thing and it means that no one’s home is going to get messy!

If you have decided you wish to hold a family reunion but don’t know where to start, follow these simple steps and you will have a great time.

  • Time and place – The first thing to is organise a time and place for your reunion. Ask family beforehand when a good time for them is and go with the majority. Sometimes you will find that no matter how you go about it, there may always be someone who is too busy or far away to come. Be sure to get the word out early, as it gives everyone invited a chance to free up the day so they can attend. Sending out early invites will also present the opportunity to ask for people to help out with organising the event. A good notice time is usually around 4 months in advance. If you have chosen Cheshire as your venue, there are plenty of awesome hotels in Cheshire to choose from.
  • Get help- have your family help, as it makes things much easier for you. Form a team of people who want to help and assign each person a specific task. Anything from organising food, booking hotel rooms, organising activities and photography. A lot of reunions like to have special features such as a family history presentation and some people like to take home a memento of the day, so why not get someone to organise a gift bag filled with goodies such as reunion books and other little personal pieces.

It is important that you give everyone a time scale on how long it should take to complete each task. There are many different time line schedules and family planning organisers online you can use to make the task easier. Be clear in what you want from everyone but let them be creative too. They may come up with ideas you hadn’t thought of. Let everyone involved voice their opinion to avoid issue in the future.

  • Plan the activities- you will need to think about some of the main things that will go on at the reunion. You may also wish to acknowledge certain achievements people have made, or recent birthdays, marriages, births and even deaths. There may be someone in the family going through a tough time; a reunion is a great time and place for the whole family to show their love and support. Be sure that you have food and drink available, as people are going to get hungry and thirsty!
  • Set aside any differences- It’s not uncommon for family to have fall outs, but try make the day about making amends. Set aside your differences and save the arguments for another time. A reunion is supposed to be a happy time, so keep it that way. Share stories and jokes about each other, but do it in such a way that no one feels singled out! Don’t gossip or speared rumours about anyone, try to keep everything positive and friendly. Especially if you plan to do this again.

School Reunions

Another reason for holding a meeting can be for hosting a school reunion. It’s a good way to find out how people have done in the years after school and catch up with friends you have not seen for years, you can find out whether they achieved their dreams, created a family, or even what jobs they ended up with. The majority of school reunions take place either 10-25 years after the school leaving year. That gives enough time to let people find themselves and settle into adulthood. You will connect with old friends and teachers, whilst having a great time.
