Reality shows rule the roost as TRP soars high with live and sensational actions taking place in the program Foxtel reality series. Taylah Roberts, an eighteen-year-old model engaged in fight with fellow contestant Ashley Pogmore. Consequently, the former was disqualified.
A spokesperson of ANTM in a comment on social networking site Facebook , mentioned that the act of disqualification was an appropriate punishment. No form of violence should be tolerated over television. Because television is most important form of social media., it has maximum number of viewers. Any kind of negative influence or publicity stunt can have harmful impact. It might have an adverse effect on the viewers of tender age.
In the program called Australia’s Next Top Model, Taylah Roberts chocked Ashley Pogmore in a semi-jovial way. The former was heard abusing her fellow contestant while in her act of strangling. As reason she stated that she was sad that her costume was damaged in the paint fight. Later as she was interviewed, she was heard accepting the penalty with a good heart.
A major radio station of Australia, Sydney’s 2Day interviewed accused Taylah Roberts, who confessed her guilt saying that she deserved the faith. Common people make mistakes. It was her ill luck, that, mistake was made on the national television, in front of many eyes. Hence, escaping the wrath of the people , mainly the channel producers became impossible. Accused Roberts further added once the act was done she did look back at the scene. But later on, she just had to move on. Because, looking back seemed fruitless then. What is done cannot be undone. The victim, Ashley Pogmore was greatly upset. She was visibly traumatized after the assault. She was seen crying before the television.
The sudden incident sent a wave of reactions from the viewers. Strong comments were viewed on social networking sites likeFacebook and Twitter. The episode received mixed opinions from the people. Some criticized while some supported the pair. The duo however avoided the social media and did not react to its comments. A comment on the site says that the incident was purely an act of immaturity.
The majority of the viewers lashed the program producers and the teens with bitter comments. Some of them went to the extent of calling the ads ‘bulling’. And that it should be immediately removed from the reality television series of Foxtel.
The program sponsor is TRESemme, a renowned company selling hair care product. When contacted to make a comment to the incident, a spokesperson said that they were aware of it and satisfied the way it is handled by the program producers. The ads of the company featured that a group of young girls well groomed were hiding TRESemme hair care products from there less glossy peers. The spokesperson further added that their advertisements of TRESemme company are made purely to promote the product and with a light heart. So the company is hopeful that the viewers will watch the show in an equally jovial manner.
