Facebook plans on creating a special feature for the celebs

Being famous and on Facebook is most likely very overwhelming  especially with the many posts, likes, comments and mentions that you get on a single day. Getting hold of the fast moving babble and knowing when it is the right time to do something becomes such a huge task. This may however be over soon as according to an AllThingsD’s report, Facebook is currently working on a mobile tool that will make it easy for the celebs and other VIPs to toil through the noise on Facebook so as to communicate and interact with their fans.

Facebook plans on creating a special feature for the celebsIn an email statement, a spokesperson for Facebook confirmed they were working on mobile features which are designed to enable the public figures to communicate and interact with their fans. The spokesperson further said that the features were currently being tested a select few people only. However, it has remained unclear on how the features will be used to make it easy for the very popular people to interact with their fans and sift through the posts, comments and likes on Facebook or the reason as to why the current mobile apps could not be used for the same purpose.

When these mobile features are developed, they will most likely be of more use to the professionals of the social media than the real celebs. This is mainly due to the fact that the more popular people rarely check their Facebook pages in order to see what their friends have posted or post stuff themselves. However, when it comes to the social media managers, it is a common thing for them to use the social networks on the behalf of a celeb so as to post updates, snapshots or information about public appearances. The social media managers are therefore just in place so that they can save time for the famous people.

With celebs being seen as lucrative brands and who often depend on the public image that is carefully created and controlled, Facebook is trying to become the place where they can be able to control that public image and joining the likes of Twitter in that stage. For a long time now, Twitter has dominated over Facebook as an arena where the famous people can relay the latest news about them and interact with their fans casually. Some of these famous people also use it for communication between themselves evident from the numerous Twitter fights and late night rambling.

Facebook has tried several times to use some of the features inspired by Twitter such as offering of verified pages in order distinguish the real public figures from the impostors and rolling out of hashtags with little success. If these mobile features are successful and the company takes over as a platform where the celebs can use to make their important statements first, the company‘s reputation could increase significantly. This would also add some coolness to the site that has been fighting to stay relevant and youthful. The features have however sparked some discontent with some people online complaining about the perceived special treatment of the popular people.
