Conservative searching for proof that government shutdown would be suitable party

The leaders of the Republican Party have made it clear that they think the idea of shutting down government unless President Obama defunds his healthcare program is not a good one. While saying this, the leaders argued that the Senate would refuse to pass any funding bill for a government that defunded the healthcare program. The leaders also said that even if such a bill was passed, the president would refuse to sign it. The leaders also added that the Good Old Party would also become unpopular as a result of the shutdown, a situation that would lead to it loosing the House Majority.

Conservative groups are however working on facts to dispute this with an arm of Heritage Foundation, a conservative group, arguing that that the shutdown will not affect the GOP’s majority in the house according to a new poll they conducted. The conservative group is being used to persuade lawmakers from both sides through their proposition that constituents are okay with the idea of shutting down the government in order to block Obamacare.  According to its pollster, there was no evidence to show that defunding of Obamacare and partial shutdown of the government would cause the Republican Party to lose majority in the House.

The Congress members whose areas were polled are however being advised not to act based on the polls as the questions where crafted in a way so as to allow for the support of shutdown in order to defund the Obamacare and the tally results are also said to be very close. The poll is also said to be based on a faulty assumption, with Senator Tom Coburn of the Republican asking the Congressional Budget Office that is non-partisan whether the shutdown would in reality block the Obamacare. The office in response said that substantial implementation of the program could continue during the temporary shutdown as it had been allocated funding elsewhere. The Minority Leader for Senate, Mitch McConnell, also seemed to echo similar concerns as Coburn and he said that if even though he was against the Obamacare, the shutdown would not block it.

Those against the shutdown have however been criticized heavily with an online blog post saying that the comments of the Senate Minority Leader have shown why the GOP has failed the people and the reason it will never win with people like Mitch in control. The post also said in the end that it was now clearer that the only option of blocking Obamacare was by shutting down the government establishment at the primaries.

Senator Ron Johnson has however indicated that the problem is not the position of the Republican Leadership and that even if the resolution to shutdown the government, the Obamacare could not be defunded unless president Obama signed a law and that was very unlikely. The Heritage Foundation has also been said to be opposing the Obamacare plan due to the fact that it is a good tool for organizing with the republicans opposing it being said to do so for fear of losing the elections in 2016 and not because the GOP would lose majority in the House.
