During the cold months of December and January, the place turns into a paradise of snowfall. 4. Malvan Region in Maharashtra
   The Malvan region of the western state of Maharashtra is beauty and history combined on the same land. Inhabited by many forts and beautiful coastlines, you can go deep into history or lie under the sun. Sindhudurg fort of the Marathas is built on an island by the name of Kurte, some 500 kms from Mumbai and 120 kms from Goa. It is built on 48 acres of land and has 43 bastions. The massive walls served as a protection from enemies. Besides the fort, a long walk along the beaches of Chiwla and Tarkali are very soothing. The beaches are very clean and less crowded.
