Sindhudurg fort of the Marathas is built on an island by the name of Kurte, some 500 kms from Mumbai and 120 kms from Goa. It is built on 48 acres of land and has 43 bastions. The massive walls served as a protection from enemies. Besides the fort, a long walk along the beaches of Chiwla and Tarkali are very soothing. The beaches are very clean and less crowded.
