The Best Planning Trip to Australia in a Budget in 2020

Trip to Australia

Australia is a beautiful country and is a dream place for many to visit. One of those many, I am also one of them. I am Derek lives in Boston as on a student’s visa. I have been here for more than 2 years of living life as a college student and doing a part-time job in the nearby cafeteria.

I too had a dream to visit the largest Island Australia. With a part-time job, I saved enough money to do so.

Now here I am sharing my experience, on what is the minimum budget that you should consider saving for a trip to Australia.

Planning Trip to Australia in a Budget

When you are going to an unknown country, you need to have detailed information about the country. This will make it easier for you to navigate around the nation. I did the same thing. I kept on researching for at least a year on every aspect of the tour. Starting from the flight, lodging, food to the navigational methods.

When I was sure about all the things and the places that I am going to visit only then I visited Australia.

Let’s get down to the journey details and the budget that will be needed to visit Australia.

  1. Securing a visa

It is known for the fact that you have to get a visa when you are planning to visit another country. So, you have to plan accordingly. You have to apply for the vias beforehand so that you do not miss out on your planned date. You can apply for the visa directly to the Australian government online. And can complete all the procedures.

  1. Carefully booking flight tickets

After a visa, the second thing that you have to keep in mind that you have to plan from where you are going to start touring Australia. Having a big country as Australia is great and all but, you must consider the amount of time it will take for you to navigate from one city to another.

It took me around $2000 to complete my journey from Boston, America to Sydney, Australia (including visa charges). So, you can consider this amount as the one-way traveling expenses to Australia.

It is very important to have an idea of where you are going to start your journey. Once you land on the land of Australia, there is only three option for you to navigate around that is flying, having your own car or by bus.

Well if you ask me, I have personally tried two options out of three. First is the flying (covering long distances) and the second is by car (for touring around the places). The third option that I did not try is traveling by bus. This is because the bus takes their sweet little time to cover distances.

In conclusion, you have to be sure enough on which route you are taking and what are the travel options available for you.

  1. The best way of navigation

Once you land in Australia, there are only three ways by which you can travel from one place to another. First is flying, second is having your own car (or rental will do as well), and the last one is by bus (well, I personally do not like this method).

Australia is a very big country. It has very rough terrain, hence, there are only a few public transports that connect major cities. Even so, those public transports are very limited. You can use flights for traveling long distances. But hey! If you have come to Australia to have a nice tour then why travel using flights. You are missing all the landscape that you can enjoy while traveling by land.

So, according to me the best way to travel around Australia is to have your own car or just rent a car for your tour. This way not only the destination will be beautiful but the journey will also be satisfying.

The prices may vary with the trader. The prices come with the daily listing, weekly listing and on an hourly basis. Whichever suits you the best, you can go for that payment method.

  1. Choosing the route for the tour

The tour will also decide the budget for your visit. The longer route you take, the longer you will live in Australia, the longer will be expenses. If you have planned to visit 5 destinations on your visit and all those destinations are in different cities. Then obviously you will have spent more days to visit all of them. On the other hand, if you plan to visit Australia for visiting 1 or 2 places then it will obviously take less time than the previous plan.

So, it is all up to you, which route you prefer and which destination you like. Everything will play an important role in finalizing your budget.

  1. Food and lodging

Finally, we are here on the food and lodging. Well, everybody knows that Australia is a free camping site. That means you are free to camp anywhere possible. You can travel the roads by car and when the night falls you can use any open space to camp out.

If you are not fond of camping outside then you can rent a hotel room for the night. Most of the hotel rooms cost around $15-$20. And that leaves out the food costs. Then let me tell you that if you have $300 in your pocket you can easily survive (food and lodging) for a week in Australia. Yes, you cannot obviously live a luxurious life with this amount of money, but you can surely survive with the basic necessities.

Let’s plan a trip

Here we go! I have shared my experience on how managed to land a trip to Studying In Australia while being a student in Boston. Believe me, Australia is a place that you must visit at least once in your lifetime. What’s more interesting is that the budget is quite affordable as well. Being a student and a part-timer, I was able to save enough for the journey and the tour. So, you can also do the same.

So, what are you waiting for? Gather your friends and ask them to “Let’s plan a trip”.
