If you’re thinking about refitting your bathroom, you’ve probably already realised that it can be quite an expensive undertaking.
With all the fixtures and fittings required in a bathroom, remodelling isn’t just a question of painting or putting up some new curtains.
Couple that with the fact that you’re probably going to require some professional plumbing help at some point during the process, and the costs really start to add up.
So how you can save a little cash when refitting your bathroom? Here’s our guide to getting the best bathroom deals…
Buy Online…
Okay, you might want to hit a bathroom showroom to see how the pieces really look, but once you’ve done that, there’s nothing stopping you from going home and buying the same thing online.
Some companies offer pretty significant discounts for buying online, or maybe you can get added extras like free delivery.
More general sites will offer ranges from many different manufacturers, letting you choose from a wide range of styles and prices.
Sites like QSSupplies.com and UKBtahrooms.com, for example, offer suites from top designers like Roca Bathrooms, for a fraction of the price that you’d pay in a retail store. Online buying is really the best option for saving money.
Buy All in One…
Buying a complete bathroom suite is generally much cheaper than buying all the pieces separately.
This might limit your options a little, since it’s difficult to get feature pieces like steel bath tubs as part of a suite. However, the savings you make from buying an all in one set are pretty significant.
Shop Independent…
Whilst smaller, independent bathroom showrooms might have slightly higher initial prices, they also have more room for negotiation.
It’s impossible nowadays to go to a chain or franchise shop and negotiate a deal on a package.
At an independent retailer, on the other hand, you might be able to haggle with the prices, or talk your way into a better deal by agreeing to purchase not just the bathroom suite but also the taps and even tiles from the same retailer.
Consider Showroom Models…
Many shops will sell off suites that have been used as showroom models for a cheaper price. You will probably have to ask for such deals, and the timing will be important.
If a showroom piece has just been installed, the shop are unlikely to sell it to you. If you do decide to go with a showroom model, make sure that you carefully check the pieces for chips, cracks or scratches, as damage can hurt the functionality of your bathroom suite.
Remember that Money isn’t Everything…
Finances are important in any big purchasing decision but remember that there are other considerations as well.
Buying a cheap bath tub, or cheap taps might save you money now, but it’s highly likely that you’re going to have to replace these pieces within a couple of years.
It might be worth spending a little more to get a higher quality product that will last longer and therefore be a better investment.
