Can Drinking Water Cure Dry Skin

Whenever you are thirsty, you drink water to quench your thirst and hydrate yourselves. However, it does not work on dry, thirsty skin. Most of us think that drinking a lot of water can cure dry skin, but that not true.

A person who is well hydrated would probably not see any difference in the skin even after consuming an increased volume of water. Plus, the excessive water intake can lead to other health problems and it has no effects on the dry skin.

Sky drying is an external problem and it can be best treated from the outside. External factors such as cleansing products, environment and oil glands determine how dry your skin is or will become.

Anything that causes loss of water or reduces the barrier function of the top layer of skin or stratum corneum, can lead to the feeling of dry skin. Causes of dry skin are mainly due to exposure to outside chemicals, solvents, detergents and excessive water.

Other things that can make the dry skin are fragrances such as perfume, excessive bathing or swimming, and even certain weather conditions.

It is often said that the skin gets dry during the winters when all of these factors are playing a role. The best solution for dry skin is to treat it from the outside with moisturizer such as a lotion, cream, ointment or oil, which forms an effective barrier to water loss. Applying the cream within a few minutes of bathing, when the skin is damp, which will lock in moisture.

When it comes to cleaning your skin, mild, fragrance-free soaps are the best. Many soaps strip the essential skin oils or lipids, which are part of the skin’s normal protective barrier. So try to avoid Deodorant bars, antibacterial soaps, perfumed soaps and skincare products tend to be more drying.

Other ways prevent dry skin are:

  • Limit bathing time to about 10 minutes once a day and use warm water, avoid extremely hot water, it robs skin of moisture.
  • Try a body moisturizer once or twice a day.
  • In winter months, apply moisturizer on your skin especially your feet and hands before you go outside.
  • For extremely dry feet, apply moisturizer at night and sleep wearing cotton socks.
  • Use facial moisturizer marketed only for the face. Body moisturizers with oils can induce acne and folliculitis lesions, or infections of the hair follicles.
  • Avoid irritants as much as possible. Those who are working with irritating products can protect their skin by applying moisturizer and wearing protective clothing.
  • Shower off to remove residual pool chemicals after swimming in a pool and apply moisturizer.
  • Wear gloves when washing dishes to avoid sky damage of your hands.

There are many good reasons to drink pure water from an RO water purifier: It’s refreshing, and it helps your brain function, maintains energy levels, regulates body temperature, aids in digestion, and ultimately keeps your body healthy. You can buy a water purifier for home and enjoy the good effects of drinking water from it.

But it has minimal effects on the skin. In fact, when you ingest it, water doesn’t go straight to the skin but it goes through the intestines, gets absorbed into your bloodstream, and is filtered by kidneys. Then it hydrates cells. The drinking water falls short when it comes to moisturizing skin.
