The Museo del Prado that was designed by Juan de Villanueva back in the 18th century is where the largest collection of Spanish painting and some of the finest collections in the world are displayed. Some of the works displayed include those by El Greco, Velaquez, di Ribera and Goya among others. The more than 7,000 artworks in this museum date from the 12th century to the 19th century and require a minimum of two days to exhaust the display. Depicting the horrors of the Spanish Civil Wars, the El Guernica is the highlight of the Museo Reina Sofia that is located within a walking distance from the Prado Museum. This is a masterpiece by Pablo Picasso one of the greatest artists of all times. For all the latest Spanish art works, the Reina Sofia Museum is the place to be in Madrid. Visiting the three museums gives visitors a taste of different artworks.
