As you age it becomes critical to take care of your eyesight. Sun damage and overuse can create a dangerous 1-2 punch which adversely affects your vision.
By using a few simple tips you can change your habits and improve your eyesight tremendously. How you eat, your choice of gear and resting your eyes regularly all play a chief role in how well you see.
If you want to see clearly into your later years follow these 5 tips to improve your vision.
Break Regularly
Giving your eyes a solid rest can improve your vision. Too many people sit at their computers for hours on end. Doing so only worsens your eyesight. Like any muscle in your body your eyes need to take a break once in a while. Step away from your laptop every 60 minutes. Don’t focus your eyesight on anything in particular. Just relax for a few moments and take a stroll around your place of employment.
If you’re a student or stay at home type just take breaks every 1 to 2 hours to move your eyesight from focusing on your class or daily tasks to doing something relaxing. Your eyes need breaks to improve your focus. Set an alarm if needed to break and to improve your eyesight.
Get Surgery
Getting surgery can improve your vision quickly. Before you go under the knife speak to your physician. Not everybody is a good candidate for surgery. For example, if you are considering LASIK surgery you’ll need to meet a set of criteria before you can go on with the procedure. After you have worked through the qualifying questions the doctor can see if you’re a match with the surgery. Your physician will be able to refer you to an eye surgeon to help you with this process. Surgery is a powerful measure for improving your vision immediately if you’re willing to go under the knife and experience a sometimes lengthy rehabilitation period.
Watch What You Eat
What you chow down on can improve your vision. Consume foods high in vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and lutein to prevent age-related eyesight issues. Take in citrus juices, nuts, eggs, salmon and leafy greens to improve your vision. Toss junk food, fast food and sugary, sweet, high calorie drinks to the side. Do your eyes and waist a favor. Take care of your eyesight by eating healthy, nutritious foods regularly and you’ll also take care of your heart.
Don Shades
Wearing sunglasses protects your eyes from harmful UV rays. Unless you protect your eyes you’re apt to suffer through macular degeneration. Look like Joe Cool and take care of your peepers in the process. Make sure to wear glasses that offer 100% UV blocking to protect your eyes adequately.
Level Off
When you are working in front of the computer make sure your eyes are level with the top of the screen. Leveling off causes less stress on your eyes. Maneuver your monitor and chair to find this optimal height. Remember to take your hourly breaks. Your eyes need the rest.
