How To Deal With Cyberstalking?

Cyberstalking a relatively new phenomenon and it is an act of stalking or harassing an individual, an organization or a group through the Internet or other electronic-based means. This may include many forms, such as slander, defamation and accusations. In some countries, cyberstalking is punishable by huge fines and even imprisonment. There are many types of stalking and they could have different characteristics.
It is important to be aware of such personality trait before we communicate with someone in the Internet. It is possible that we slowly fall into the predator’s clutches. It is possible that we are dealing with psychopaths who are interested only in ruining our lives. They could be narcissist loners who gain satisfaction by ruining others’ lives.
The process of stalking may begin quite slowly and stalkers could inject familiarity when they establish a relationship. Their initial goal is to act like our cohort or best friend. They will begin to show keen interest on our lives and even our locations. After gathering enough information, they could start stalking us through phone calls and emails. They could begin drop formal titles and start to call victims by first name or other nicknames.
Among stalkers, narcissism is a dominant part of their behaviours. They could eventually become volatile when victims start to become aware of their invasive behaviours and resist. This is usually the time when they start to rear their ugly head and drop any sign of benevolence.
If we ever find ourselves in such a position, it is important that stalkers are often psychopaths who can twist situations, cheat others and obliterate relationships. This whole episode is just their narcissism at its finest. We should have a resolve to overtake them and don’t let them discredit or ruin us. We should avoid them at all cost.
We can contact the local police and report the individual who has slandered us, committed libel acts and threatened us.
We should keep enough evidences, such as website posts, recorded phone calls, messages and all kind of documents. It is also important to have 3rd party witnesses who are willing to testify. In some cases, cyberstalking can be considered as a serious offense.
It is a bad idea to allow stalkers to lurk in our consciousness permanently. Every moment we think of them, they stay in our mind, rent free. We should release them from our mind and consider them as forgettable part of our lives. We could do this easier by communicating with positive individuals who take genuine interest in our well-being. We should learn from this experience, don’t look back and move forward.
This could teach us to protect ourselves and be aware of possible boundaries. It is our responsibility to make sure that no one will ever cross this line again. In any case, we shouldn’t blame ourselves, because stalkers could find an opportunity if we are vulnerable and let our guard down. It should be noted that our kindness isn’t always rewarded by similar responses.
