The History of the Palace
The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is a beautiful palace that is located in Rhodes which resides in Greece. The palace once served as a fortress as well as a headquarters. It was built sometime in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes. The island was then captured by the Ottoman Empire, and the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes served as a fortress. As you can see, this palace is loaded with a lot of interesting history that spans out for many, many years.
Renovations to the Palace
The palace is beautiful, but it did happen to receive a bit of damage in the year of 1856, when it experienced an ammunition explosion. The Italians serviced and repaired the palace, and it was then used as a holiday area for Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. Benito Mussolini afterwards used the palace as a holiday spot. There are still plaques that feature Mussolini’s name near the front of the palace. Anyone who wants to feel one with the many important historic figures of the past will love visiting this palace.
Recent Changes
Sometime in the year of 1947 the Treaty of Peace with Italy concluded that the Dodecanese were to be transferred to Greece. Then in the year of 1948, Rhodes as well as the remaining Dodecanese agreed to the transfer.  Now the beautiful Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is a museum with many interesting sights.
