5 Smart Ideas To Land A Job With Your Smartphone

5 Smart Ideas To Land A Job With Your Smartphone

There isn’t anything you can’t do with your smartphone these days. Things have transcended from calling to texting, emailing, video chatting, and locating maps to using apps to buy pretty much anything online. In fact, I’m pretty sure you could use your smartphone to rob a bank! But let’s not go there.

There are quite a few ways you could put your phone to good use and find yourself a job. For one, there are a ton of apps (like LinkedIn) that you can use to create a professional profile and put yourself out there for a potential employer to find. But this barely skims the surface of what you can accomplish through job hunting with a smartphone.

So here you go:

  1. Get Good Apps

The best way to make the most efficient use of your smartphone is to dip into the large pool of free, helpful apps. Tons of phone apps will inform you about job listings and will provide a platform for you to send in applications through the app itself. Additionally, they can also use your GPS to find jobs that are located close to you. Monster.com, Glassdoor, Simplyhired, and indeed.com are just some of the apps that you can choose from.

  1. Social Networking

Joining social networks will help you stay updated on the latest job openings. This gives you an opportunity to strike while the iron is hot. A lot of people lose out of excellent opportunities because the job position has already been filled by someone who got there earlier. Also, don’t underestimate your own connections since they can help you land a good job.

  1. Make a “Smart Resume”

Using your phone to apply to jobs and stay ahead of the game is all well and good. But people often forget that recruiters on the receiving end of job applications most likely use their phones to scan candidates as well. You will really lose out if your resume is not compatible with an android or an iPhone. Make sure your resume is as “smart” as your attempts to land a job through your phone.

  1. Prep Work

Job hunting can be downright overwhelming even whether you do it through your smartphone or the old fashioned way. It is easy to lose track of how many applications we have sent out and how many of them have seen a response. Some phone apps like JobAware and SamCard allow you to track the progress of your job hunt, making it a little less overwhelming and a little more organized.

  1. Online Career Training

Having some short certificate courses under your belt will surely take you a long way in your job hunt. Before you start applying, you can use your smartphone to enroll in career training schools like Career Step or U.S. Career Institute and get an online education in courses related to your field. Putting this on your resume is sure to give you an edge over other applicants because employers want to hire people who want to constantly learn and grow.

So there you have it good folks, 5 awesome ways to land a job through your smartphone. I would suggest you use a combination of all 5 for the best results. So delete Candy Crush off that phone and make space for some new, cool job apps today!
