Norfolk is one of the country’s most beautiful regions with its vast and flat lands, attractive countryside, coastal towns and thriving, vibrant cities. For some, it’s a place to relax whilst for others, it’s perfect for a weekend or week of activities, offering a little something for all ages and catering for those with a taste for adventure. If you’re stuck for ideas on what to do, take a quick look at some of these excellent ideas and opportunities to really let loose in Norfolk.
Built for FUN
The first place to visit in Norfolk has to be the wondrous coastal town of Great Yarmouth. Along with its fantastic Pleasure Beach theme park, Great Yarmouth is a haven for both adults and children, with its arcades, restaurants, sandy beaches and fun-fair rides.
It’s a perfect day out because it encapsulates some of the finest aspects of Norfolk, from the beautiful scenery on the outskirts, the coastal attractions and the fun-filled theme parks, offering an abundance of sweet treats, souvenirs and other memories.
Peace and Quiet
The Norfolk Broads are perfect for those seeking a relaxing, and even romantic, getaway for a quick weekend. However, they’re also a hub for some of Norfolk’s most adventurous activities. From biking to hiking, from boating to paddling; the Broads offer a wide range of activities that are fit for all ages and again showcase the fine beauty of the county whilst encouraging families to get out and about. Children can learn how to sail or perhaps even ride their first bicycle; the possibilities are endless.
Treetop Fun
One of the lesser known gems that Norfolk has to offer is the world of Go Ape! It’s reserved only for those with plenty of energy though and consists of adventurers flying through the vast foliage of Thetford Forest. Buckled up by seasoned pros, this is a great day out for a birthday or a family event where much fun will be had by all, dangling above the forest floor, a good 20-40ft high up on zip-wires, platforms and other various gravity defying contraptions.
Extinct Fun
Dinosaur Adventure is a charming look back at an ancient period, sure to delight those who step foot within the park limits. The park includes a number of trails, lined with cafes and shops, which families can follow, hunting down a selection of model dinosaurs which sit around the park. Whilst it may not be suitable for younger children, the park consists of many special features, such as Jurassic Putt, a quaint mini-golf experience, which help to deliver the perfect day out in Norfolk.
Families may see the benefit of traversing around Norfolk’s beautiful scenery by taking up any one of the county’s Norfolk treasure trails. There are over 50 selected trails in the area, most of them moving through areas of unspoiled beauty, that offer a look at some of Norfolk’s most unique landscapes, thoroughly taking families off the beaten track. Many trails include activities and certain organisations throw special events during the year meaning a little research beforehand may be required to make the most of the getaway.
