Practices To Avoid If You Want To Have Clear Drains, Always

Drains should be flowing freely. When they get blocked, they create a mess in people’s life. There are many reasons behind clogged drains. While some of the reasons are in people’s control, others are not. You certainly can’t do anything about the things that cause your drains to get blocked, which you have no control over. But if your drain faces blockage issues because of your mistakes, then there is a huge scope of correcting them and avoiding them to prevent further drain blockage.

Here are some practices that you need to avoid if you want your drains always free-flowing:

  • You should never throw garbage into your toilet. Sadly, this is a practice a lot of people across the world are into. They consider the toilet to be their garbage bin. Starting from sanitary pads and diapers to polythene bags and small plastic bottles, almost everything is thrown in the toilet. This is one of the most common reasons why drain blockage happens, especially in urban households, where garbage dumping is generally a problem. And is there a solution to this problem? Yes, there is- just place a garbage bin in the toilet area so that all useless items can be dumped in it.
  • You should never throw food leftovers in the kitchen sink. This is more or less a crime as far as the health of your drains is concerned. Your sink outlet is not designed to allow the passage of solid matter. It can only allow water to pass through it. If you really feel lazy to keep the leftover aside and put it in another bin, then try using a sink-hole filter. This filter will allow only water to pass through, and no food particle. But the best way to avoid this solution is to have a garbage bin in the kitchen. After your lunches and dinners, you must empty the plates and put all the leftovers into this bin.
  • Never plant trees near your outside drains. This is not a good practice. Now, you must be wondering why we say so. Actually, trees need water to grow and bear flowers and fruits and to survive. While we water small plants, we rarely water tress. Why? Because trees are capable enough to extract their water from the soil. But when they need more water than what they get, they begin to absorb water from nearby drains and other manmade water sources within their reach. For that, tree roots often break into drains. If you don’t want that to happen, just don’t build your drains near trees or at least, don’t grow trees near your drain.

Maintaining a drain in a healthy state is not a matter of lark. You need to be careful how you use them. Yes, you will be able to keep your drain clear by avoiding the above practices, but in case, you fail to maintain its flow, and your drain gets blocked, call professionals right away. There is no dearth of drain cleaning specialists around.
