Munich Airport Transfer Options
You plan to visit Munich and want to know beforehand what Munich airport transfer options you have from the airport?
The most affordable options are by train, by bus or hotel shuttle. Let’s take them one by one.

By train: You should know that the Munich airport is 40 km away from the centre of the city. The airport has direct S-Bahn local trains that will take you to the city through two main suburban lines: the S1 and S8. The trains usually run from 4 am to 1:30 am and there is one every 10 minutes. It will take no more than 45 minutes to get into town.
You can buy tickets from any ticket machine or the manned counter in the airport between the two terminals. You can purchase a Single Day Ticket Entire Network for one person at 11€ or Partner Day Ticket Entire Network for a group (up to 5 adults) at 20€. With both types of tickets you can travel unlimited on the MVV Network from the moment they are stamped until the next day at 6 am. You can use those tickets for S-Bahn trains, U-Bahn trains and buses.
It’s quite easy to find the S-Bahn train station once you are in the airport. Simply follow the signs that have on them a white S placed on a green background. Keep in mind that after you buy the ticket you have to cancel it in a blue stamp machine. If you don’t you might get a fine.
The Lufthansa Airport Bus: You can also take the Lufthansa Airport Bus which takes passengers from the Munich airport to the city centre and stops at the main train station. From here you can take a taxi to continue your journey or regional or local trains. You will get from the airport to the city in 40 minutes and the ticket for one adult is 10,50 €, for only one trip. The first bus leaves at 6 am and the last one at 22 pm.
Hotel Shuttle Buses: Some of the hotels offer their customers shuttle bus service from the Munich airport to the hotel and back to the airport on the departure day. Do not forget to ask more about this service if you plan to book a room in a hotel. These are only some of the Munich airport transfer options, but you can also rent a car, take a taxi or rent a chauffeur.
