Interior Design Secrets For Your Living Space

Interior design is not something that comes naturally to the majority of us. Figuring out how to pull a room together, what color schemes to follow, and where to place furniture is not as obvious as it might seem. Whether you are a new homeowner or you are looking to revamp your forever home, there are a couple of secrets to creating perfection in your home that you will not be aware of.

Your living space should be a comfortable, stress-free environment where you can unwind and appreciate everything you have. People should not have to pay thousands for an interior designer to create the home they think they want. Your home is for you, therefore mastering your creative style and adding your special touches should be at the forefront of your priorities. These small yet effective tips can create a beautiful sanctuary that you will be proud to call your own.

Know Your Space Before You Start

One most important, and unfortunately most boring part of designing your living space is understanding what space you have. Especially if you already have a room filled with outdated, and messy decor it is harder to be realistic with the actual room you have for improvement. Before you head to the shops, make sure you take measurements of the room and the areas where you intend for things to be. The last thing you want is to find your dream sofa, to find it blocks the door and prevents them from opening! Get your tape measure out, and get your number together before you start.

Decide Your Desired Theme

If you want your home transformation to follow a plan and not go off the tracks, it would be smart to create a mood board of what your vision is. If you want to create a space that is unique and true to yourself, mood boards can be one of your best tools. Find room inspirations from Instagram and interest, and place them somewhere visible to decide what would work in your own home. You will be able to unleash your creativity and visibly see how chosen furniture and fabrics would look together. All of the best interior designers do not start a project without making a mood board.

Go Big When Things Seem Small

If you have smaller spaces in your home or little nooks that are not being utilized, you should follow the tips of making smaller rooms look bigger with decor. For example, if you have low ceilings or your bedroom appears smaller than you would like, you might consider ceiling-to-floor drapes and curtains. Additionally, if you have a tight space bathroom. Including a large mirror will open the space up and make the room seem larger. Take the attention away from the small space with large decor features such as these, and go big with your designs to make the rooms have large personalities despite the compact space.

Be Brave With Colour

If your living space is looking dull and lifeless, you might consider adding contrasting colours and fabrics into the comfy spaces. For example, some of the accent points of the rooms such as sofas and beds might be looking very neutral at the movement. The best interior designs include pops of colour, and you can achieve this through using pillows and throws. You might even simply replace your current cushion covers with colour, luxury cushion covers for an easy switch. We could recommend using a color wheel to understand better what statement colours would work best together.
