Beat depression and anxiety by overcoming serotonin deficiency

Depression and anxiety are the two most common mental conditions that effect people from around the world. If you ate one of those suffering from anxiety and depression, you should get treated as soon as possible before it becomes severe. However, many of us go through the phase of depression and anxiety rarely. Everyone in this world will go through the phase of depression and anxiety, once in a while. This can be due to stress, bad incident in family, failure to achieve goals and so on. You may also have serotonin deficiency that can be treated by using serotonin supplements, having proper diet, regular exercise and so on.

Food choices will have a significant impact on your mood. It is estimated that more than 70% of men and women battle with food carvings, which are usually reaction to stress, anxiety and depression. The good news is that you can have better control of your moods and carvings by eating certain foods or having dietary supplements.

What is serotonin deficiency?

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that tends to improve positive feelings. It has an effect on other areas such as – gut and heart. This is the reason why people suffering with mood swings, anxiety and depression have digestion problems. The body is meant to produce serotonin by itself. However, due to poor eating habit and lifestyle, the body cannot manufacture itself and results in serotonin deficiency.

Studies showed that some people are more prone to serotonin deficiency, and will have symptoms, such as – negative thoughts, poor memory, generalized anxiety, agitation, muscle pain etc. It is very clear that many of the symptoms of serotonin deficiency are related to anxiety or vice versa. Before the problem of anxiety and depression becomes severe, it is important to know the cause and get treated.

How to combat serotonin deficiency?

There are lots of misconceptions about serotonin deficiency. People think that it is a neurological disorder and should be treated with complex treatment options such as surgery, psychotherapy, heavy medications etc. However, one can combat serotonin deficiency using a variety of methods such as – healthy eating habits, exercise, health supplements etc.

One of the key factors to boost your mood is consuming food that supports serotonin, the neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are nothing but the ‘brain’s messengers’ that control mood, energy levels, appetite and other function of the body. They are highly influenced by what we eat in our daily life. Consume high carb foods, vitamin B12, B-Complex and Omega-3 fats that support your neurological system for good mood hormones. There are a variety of supplements and smart drugs that increase serotonin levels in your brain and improve various aspects of brain functioning.

The bottom line is that food can significantly treat serotonin deficiency and affect the action of neurotransmitters in our brain. Sufficient intake of vitamin B-complex and B12 will result in a healthy mind and body.   Our thoughts are incredibly powerful and there are many proven ways to enhance good hormones, making the brain think better. Beat anxiety and depression by increasing serotonin levels and maintaining an emotionally happy lifestyle.
