A Brief Account On PSU’s Recruitment Through GATE 2017 Score

Every year, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) recruitment through GATE take place for junior engineer posts. GATE score card is one of the selection criteria used by PSUs. Shortlisted candidates then directly get a call for an interview. Notification of PSUs hiring through GATE generally come out after the announcement of GATE result which is to be declared on March 27, 2017.

PSUs are government owned companies wherein more than 51% shares belong to the state or central government. To start a career with any PSU, the candidate is required to have in-depth technical knowledge and a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of engineering. GATE is one such exam which tests both general and technical aptitude of the applicant. PSU recruitment through GATE started in the year 2012 and since then the number of recruiting organizations is steadily increasing. Today, more than 40 PSUs recruit candidates through GATE exam.

PSUs recruitment through GATE 2017 will be done on the basis of the candidate’s GATE score. The selected applicants then have to appear for a group discussion followed by a personal interview. Based on the candidate’s performance in both the rounds, the final selection is done.

Listed below are some PSUs recruiting through GATE score:

1. Airport Authority of India (AAI)

Airport Authority of India (AAI) is responsible for creating, maintaining and upgrading civil aviation infrastructure in the country. It operates under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and offers Air Traffic Management (ATM) services over Indian airspace along with contiguous oceanic areas.

AAI will be hiring candidates based on their GATE 2017 score. The recruitment of candidates will be in relevant engineering disciplines, including electronics, telecommunication, electrical and aviation. Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their B.Tech.

2. Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL)

Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), commonly known as Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) is a state-owned electricity regulation board, operating in Bihar, India. BSPHCL recruits promising and skilled Junior Engineers on the basis of GATE score. To appear in the recruitment process, the candidate must have graduated in any of the disciplines of engineering – electrical, electronics, civil and mechanical.

3. Cabinet Secretariat

The Cabinet Secretariat administers the Indian Government (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1961 along with the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules 1961, ensuring that business transactions of Ministries and departments of the government take place smoothly, adhering to these rules.

The Cabinet Secretariat has recently released recruitment notification for the post of Senior Research Officer and Senior Field Officer through GATE 2017. Candidates with a valid GATE score will be considered for the role. Application form for this PSU recruitment through GATE 2017 will be available from April after the announcement of GATE 2017 result on March 27, 2017.

3. Delhi Development Authority (DDA)

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) came into existence in 1955 to promote and secure the development of Delhi. It lays down the basic infrastructure requirements of Delhi which is estimated to have a population of 128 Lakhs. This state-owned company will recruit candidates on the basis of GATE score followed by GD and PI. The online application forms for various vacancies in DDA will be made available on the official website from April 2017.

4. West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSECL)

West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSECL) will be recruiting candidates for the posts of Assistant Engineers (Civil) and Assistant Engineers (Electrical) on the basis of GATE 2017 exam. To appear in the recruitment process, candidates must have graduated in any of the engineering disciplines, including Civil, Electrical and Information Technology & Communication. The application forms are available on WBSECL’s official website from February 27 and the last day to apply online is set to be March 24, 2017.
