Arsenal Wenger Wants Theo Walcott

After Tuesday night’s thrilling 7-5 Capital One Cup victory over Reading in which 23 year old Theo Walcott displayed his goal scoring hunger and threat by scoring a hat-trick, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to retain the Englishman with his side.
Although Theo Walcott’s contract with the side expires in January at the end of the season and the player and the club is at loggerheads over salary negotiations and Theo’s playing positions, Arsene wants the club to resolve all disagreements with Theo Walcott’s so that he can be retained with the club.
One of the main contentions of Theo Walcott is that the salary of £75000 per week that he receives from Arsenal is too less for him as compared to the other English Internationals with same or even less experience like James Milner, Glen Johnson, Adam Johnson etc. Other than the salary Walcott also feels that he should play as a striker and not as a side forward, a position he is currently playing.

Although Walcott started 40 games late season and is yet to begin a Premier League after the breaks of talks and only two subsequent starts, Walcott has scored and created more goals this season than Alex Oxalde-Chemberlain, Gervinho or Aaron Ramsey, the players who replaced him for these matches.
According to Arsene Wenger Theo has all the capabilities of a striker and believes that he is a good finisher of the game as well. Wenger has praised Theo and said that he was absolutely brilliant on Tuesday. He believes that Theo has more central role in the future as he has good pace, loves to score goals and makes intelligent runs.
As for Theo, he has really worked hard for the last 18 months on his speed and finishing which is why Walcott now looks more composed in front of the goal. After his heroics on Tuesday it is yet to be seen whether he will get a chance to play against Manchester United on Saturday but Wenger on his part is ready to talk to the club’s finance for meeting Theo’s demands.
Wenger also said that he is ready to meet Theo’s positional demands and that there is urgency and the disagreement should be resolved by Christmas. Wenger has during contract talks with Theo often said that Walcott’s should be given credit for the way he conducts himself and for his commitment for the team.
