Samsung is accused of violating rights of labor in Brazil. According to reliable sources, prosecutors of the country have filed a lawsuit against the company for abusing labor rights. In one of its factories in Brazil, Samsung compel their employees to work for extremely long shifts for consecutive days.

Reliable source that deals with labor issues informed that after the Ministry of Labor and Unemployment disclosed suspected egregious working conditions after conducting two phases of inspections at the Samsung factory located in the Zona Franca de Manaus, the lawsuit was filed against the tech giant.

Samsung Charged For Labor Abusing In BrazilIt is mentioned in the complaint that in the factory, where assembling smartphones are done, most of the workers are offering their services for more than 10 to 15 hours each day. More strikingly, the report also informed that the workers are working for such long hours even without any break. In addition to these, some of the employees are reported to work for these lengthy hours for 27 days in a row. The lawsuit is claiming damages of approximately $110 million for the employees of the factory.

The ministry of Labor investigations informed that the workers are supposed to assemble parts even more quickly than the safety measure. It is reported in a minute the employees have to carry out strokes three times higher than the normal range of safety rules. It is evident that 2,018 workers are requested to be removed for various health issues including tendonitis, back problems and bursitis among more than 5,600 employees offering their services in the factory of Manaus.

Romulo Lins, the spokesperson and investigator of Ministry of Labor stated that the company does not follow the proper rules for business health. He also added that the management of the company is entirely ignorant of the health issues and even they lack the wish to help the employers out of the problem.

The spokesperson of Samsung however informed that they did not receive any notification regarding the case. He further added that the company would offer all type of assistance and cooperation to the Brazilian authorities.

It is worth to mention over here that Samsung has come under fire for offering poor working conditions previously. Moreover, the company is also accused to join their hands with several manufacturers that are accused to employ child workers. Samsung was charged several times to make its workers to work overtime as well as abusing labor in several of their own companies.

Last year, the authority of Samsung informed that they would scrutinize the allegations against them in order to generate proper workplace conditions. In an interview, the spokesperson of the company stated that they would follow the rules and regulations regarding human right and labor laws of each region they are operating and prohibited workplace discrimination, forced labor and child labor.

Apple, that is considered as the top competitor of Samsung has also charged to violate the labor rights in different factories where iPads and iPhones are assembled and manufactured. It is notable that these allegations led Apple to request partnerships with several other manufacturers and seek an audit from the Fair Labor Association.
